Numbers for Starter, a $3,000 Arlo

Get started

Arlo runs on testnet: a practice copy of the network, with free test money. You need a crypto wallet and a few minutes. Here is each step, and what happens at each one.

Eight steps, from wallet to payout

  1. Get a crypto wallet

A crypto wallet is an app that holds your money and asks you to approve each payment. MetaMask and Rabby are two common ones. Arlo never holds your keys.

Never share your secret recovery phrase. Arlo will never ask for it.

  2. Connect it to the app

Open the app and press Connect wallet. Your wallet asks you to approve the connection. The app then asks to switch to Arbitrum Sepolia, the practice network Arlo uses.

  3. Get test money

You need two kinds. Test ETH pays the small network fee each action costs. Test USDC is the digital dollar you put into an Arlo. The app’s Get test funds step walks you through both. Test money has no value.

  4. Pick a role and a size

Choose Trader or Backer. Starter is the size open now: $1,000 for a Trader, $2,000 for a Backer. Two bigger sizes are coming soon. You can see their numbers, but you cannot join them yet.

  5. Put your money in

Your wallet asks you twice. First you allow the queue to take the exact amount. Then you put it in. The app shows the total before you confirm, with the network fee shown on its own.

A Backer can queue for more than one Arlo at once. The app asks how many, and shows the total before taking it.

  6. Wait for a match

Places match in the order they arrive. When someone is waiting on the other side, your places pair up and your Arlo starts. If not, your place waits in line. You can cancel a waiting place and get all of it back.

  7. Trade, or watch

When your Arlo starts, a new wallet is made for it. The Trader trades on GMX. The Backer can watch the wallet and every trade as it happens.

How testnet is different

Time runs fast

An Arlo lasts up to 30 minutes instead of 30 days. One minute stands for one day, so you can watch a whole Arlo from start to payout.

The money is for practice

Test USDC and test ETH have no value. You cannot cash them out, and nothing you win or lose is real.

The line uses a simpler count

Arlo’s rules check the wallet against GMX’s live prices. GMX does not publish those prices on testnet. So here the line counts the cash in the wallet and the margin in each open trade. Stops still close trades at their prices.

New code can arrive

Arlo may move to new code during testing. Any Arlo already running finishes on the code it started with.

Before you start

  • Only use the app at app.arlo.fi.
  • Read each request your wallet shows you. The app says what each one does before you approve it.
  • Arlo will never ask for your secret phrase, and will never ask you to send money to an address.
  • Read Risks, plainly before you put money in, even test money.

Pick a side. Try it on testnet.

Starter is open now: $1,000 to trade, $2,000 to back.
